I am a qualified European Patent Attorney with over 20 years of expertise in Intellectual Property across industry and private practice settings; dedicated to aligning IP operations with business strategies, optimizing IP portfolios for cost-efficiency and competitive edge, building IP budgets and fostering IP awareness within organizations.

As a patent engineer in a formerBelgian IP firm, I learned the basics of IP and gained experience in the drafting  and prosecution of patent applications in a wide range of technologies. I used this experience to become an in-house IP manager and IP strategist in industry. For about 15 years I worked for two different Belgian companies with very different technologies. During this time I was in charge of all IP related matters, from drafting and filing patent applications, and filing trademarks and designs, to building an IP strategy, managing and optimising the IP portfolio and handling IP infringement in close cooperation with the legal department.

Throughout my career I have been working with a lot of inventors, trying to help them bringing their innovations to the best possible protection. Diving into the newest technologies and trying to understand the inventions is something I enjoy doing very much.

After working hours, I am a member of the ie-net expert group on intellectual property, where I coordinate and am one of the lecturers in the IP management course. Further, I am a member of the board and co-founder of Belgian Patent Information UserGroup (BEPIUG), which brings together people in the IP profession in Belgium to network and exchange working experience.
