Hi – my name is Bart and I’m an attorney with the Antwerp and Brussels Bars. Over the past two and a half decades, I have assisted many innovative entrepreneurs and enterprises in various matters relating to intellectual property, technology, media and telecommunications law, as well as corporate and commercial law in general.
While working for PwC and Deloitte, I have had the opportunity to develop a 360° perspective on the functioning of companies, how they manage their risks and – more importantly – how they identify and explore business opportunities through innovation and collaborating with third parties. Some of my most memorable experiences included:
From an academic perspective: I hold a Law Degree (1998 – LL.M) and a Master in Business Law (LL.M) from the University of Antwerp (2001), Master degrees (LL.M) in Intellectual Property Law (1999) and Corporate Law (2000) from the Catholic University of Louvain (KULeuven) and the Catholic University of Brussels (KUBrussel). I have been a researcher at the Law Faculty of the University of Antwerp, and a Professor at the Karel De Grote-Hogeschool and the University of Alicante (Magister Lvcentinvs), lecturing on intellectual property, technology transfer, the legal aspects of ICT, domain name dispute avoidance and dispute resolution.
I enjoy speaking at national and international conferences and seminars on intellectual property, information technology law and outsourcing.
In terms of languages, I am proficient in Dutch (native), French and English, with notions of German.
Proud husband and father of two boys.
